hi, i'm popcorn!
Hi friend, I’m Popcorn, The Queen City Piggy! I’m training to become a Certified Animal Therapist. I’m always traveling around the city like every spoiled piggy should. Every time I’m out, I get to meet people of all ages and from all different backgrounds. Did you know that the human-animal bond is a mutually beneficial relationship? I hope that by letting people play with me, I’m positively influencing their health and well-being, too.
Why is your name Popcorn?
Because popcorn is my favorite snack! When I’m learning a new skill or trick, I get popcorn as a special treat. Yum!
How old are you?
I was born on September 14, 2018.
How big will you get?
All mini pigs have the potential to weigh up to 300lbs. It’s estimated that I’ll about 90lbs, and between 12-16 inches tall. Pigs don’t stop growing until around five, so we will have to wait and see if those estimations are right!
Do you really live indoors?
Sure do! While I love playing outside, I’m an indoor pig.
Where do you poop?
I’m litter boxed trained, like a cat! But instead of kitty litter, I potty on equine pellets.
Where do you sleep?
With my human mommy, of course! I am a great little spoon.
What do you eat?
Did you know that pigs are actually picky eaters? It’s true! I eat mini pig pellets for breakfast and dinner, and love vegetables and fresh fruit for lunch. Have you seen me eat a banana? If not, you really should.
Are you training to be a Certified Therapy Animal? Why?
I am! The human-animal bond is a mutually beneficial relationship between people and animals that positively influences the health and well-being of both species. When one of my human brothers was admitted in PICU as an infant, a therapy animal came to visit him at the hospital. This visit touched my human mom’s heart deeply, so this is her way of giving back what she received. I’m working hard on my training every single day until my first birthday, when I can be officially certified!
Do you live in the greater Cincinnati area, and want to meet Popcorn the Mini Pig? Popcorn loves making special appearances at libraries, hospitals, classrooms, yoga studies, birthday parties, and special events. We don’t call him Mr. Popular Piggy for nothing!
Right now, he’s in training to be a Certified Assisted Therapy Animal so socialization is really important.
